Scotland – Rail & City Experience


Experience a nostalgic rail journey, and a visit to the inspiring city of Edinburgh and the Royal Yacht Britannia – which was once the Queen’s floating royal residence.

Daily Itinerary

Day 1: We depart West Wales, and travelling through Mid-Wales, we make our way to our hotel in Cumbernauld.  This will be our base for the next 4 nights.

Day 2: After breakfast, we shall enjoy a truly memorable journey along the shores of the River Forth on the Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway.  The train will take us from Bo’ness to Manuel and return. In the afternoon, we will make our way to visit the Falkirk Wheel, and amazing feat of engineering and the world’s first and only rotating boatlift. Return to the hotel in time to freshen up before the evening meal.

Day 3: A morning visit to the historic city of Stirling, with its Old Town and Castle, which was once the residence of Scottish Kings. In the afternoon, we will make our way back to the hotel via Crieff and Callander.

Day 4: After breakfast, we shall make our way to Edinburgh to visit the Royal Yacht Brittania – truly a spectacular must-see. Afterwards, we will go into Edinburgh, with its imposing Castle, Royal Mile, Princes Street and the Palace of Holyroodhouse – the official Scottish residence of the Queen. 

Day 5: Sadly, after breakfast, we depart the hotel and make our return journey to Wales.  Suitable comfort stops will be make en-route and arrive back in West Wales in the evening.
