''From its vibrant city life, to the rural charm of inland towns and villages, to its stunning coastline Waterford has something for everyone.
Waterford City, the oldest city in Ireland has a perfect blend of ancient and modern. Its collection of pubs, gourmet restaurants and excellent shops and boutiques, co-exist with medieval city walls, quaintly cobbled back streets and the grandeur of historical buildings still standing proud after more than a thousand years. Why not take a leisurely self guided walking tour of Waterford City and discover it all at your own pace.
Our personal recommendation is to do a guided walking tour with Waterford's one and only Jack Burtchaell. Jack is quiet simply an institution in Waterford City. A qualified historian and geographer Jack has been doing walking tours in Waterford for over 25 years picking up numerous awards along the way. Jack has his own unique fun way of telling you the history of our fine city, you will not be disappointed.
Waterford boasts an excellent choice of world-class visitor attractions from the spectacular Copper Coast Geopark, to the Bishops Palace Museum, and of course The House of Waterford Crystal, renowned the world over for the craftmanship of its master glass cutters.
For the adventurous there are plenty of water activities such as kayaking, surfing and kite-surfing. To the west of the county nestled close to the Comeragh Mountains, lie the pretty towns of Lismore, Cappoquin and Ballymacarbry along the Nire Valley. A short drive to Passage East lets you take the short ferry to Hook Head. Here discover the beautiful coastline and the famous Hook Head Lighthouse.
This is a natural playground for equestrian, angling, watersports and cycling holidays in a county that's ideal for holidays of all kinds.
Waterford has recently been awarded The Purple Flag, which is national recognition as a City that provides good quality evening & night time entertainment, where people can enjoy a safe night out in a pleasant environment."........taken from Dooley's Hotel website
